1. ‘Bird Brain’ Is Actually a Compliment
Did you know that chickens are actually smarter than cats and dogs? Well, they are! Chickens are bright animals who are able to solve complex problems, demonstrate self-control, and worry about the future.

2. This Is Your Food on Drugs
Chickens raised for food are packed by the thousands into massive, dirty sheds. They are fed large amounts of antibiotics and drugs to keep them alive in conditions that would otherwise kill them. The antibiotics make chickens grow so large so fast that they often become crippled under their own weight. ...read more.

Global warming isn’t opinion. It’s a scientific reality. And the science tells us that human activity has made enormous impacts to our planet that affect our well-being and even our survival as a species.

The world’s leading science journals report that glaciers are melting ten times faster than previously thought, that atmospheric greenhouse gases have reached levels not seen for millions of years, and that species are vanishing as a result of climate change. They also report of extreme weather events, long-term droughts, and rising sea levels.

Fortunately, the science also tells us how we can begin to make significant repairs to try and reverse those impacts, but only through immediate action. That’s why we urge you to join us...read the whole inside story.

It has been nearly a year since I first walked through the doors of Nuçi’s Space back in January 2003. I had just moved to Athens the prior month and knew virtually no one. I brought with me to this city a long-standing history of depression, anorexia, and bulimia. When I moved to Athens, I was experiencing a relapse from a seemingly solid recovery. Georgia Innocence Project (GIP) was established in 2002 to secure the release from Georgia prisons of individuals convicted of crimes they did not commit and to help those individuals transition successfully back into society. In addition, GIP seeks to educate attorneys and law enforcement officials in investigation and trial procedures that will reduce the chances of wrongful convictions, to make the public aware that wrongful convictions are not rare or isolated events, and to help the exonerated rebuild their lives.

GIP’s first task was the successful passage of legislation to provide for post-conviction DNA testing in Georgia and the mandated preservation of physical evidence in criminal cases post-conviction...read the whole inside story.

Every 2 minutes a child is sold as a sex slave. And everyday we fight against the reality that child sex slavery exists in our world. Phrases like, ‘child rape’, ‘8 year old prostitute’, and ‘cigarette burns on her back’ should never be uttered in a sentence. It is up to us to tell their story. We must be heard. We must not stop. We must pursue justice.

Let us be clear, this is not just an issue in the world at large. No! Child sex slavery has crept into our own backyard. In Atlanta. The city that ranks among the top in America for sex trafficking. Innocence Atlanta was started because we believe that you can make a difference. We believe that every child has the right to be a child. We believe that innocence can be restored...read the whole inside story.
